Roof Insulation Options for Your Home
If you have a metal roof or you’re thinking of investing in one, it might seem like a difficult material to insulate. But luckily, this isn’t the case. These days metal roofing has become just as popular as tile, with good reason – it lasts as long, if not longer, but with the added benefit of never cracking or corroding – and believe it or not, it’s just as easy to insulate. Here at Zen Roofing in Brisbane, we do it all the time! With over 15 years of experience in roof repairs, restoration and replacement, insulation is just one of the many services we offer to residential and commercial buildings all over the city.
Reasons to Consider Insulation
A home without insulation can be less comfortable in a few different ways. For instance, soundproofing is one of the things we take for granted in a well-insulated home. Without it, you might find it difficult to get any peace and quiet, especially if you share your house with family or housemates. And for the sake of everyone’s health, it’s also important to prevent condensation, so that no mould or mildew can form on the ceilings.
But perhaps the most obvious way that insulation can improve the comfort of your home is by regulating temperature. Keeping cooler in the summer is a lifesaver here in South East Queensland, while some extra warmth in the winter is always appreciated. And not only does this make your home cosier, you save on electricity bills too!
The Types of Insulation Available
There are a few options. Fibreglass batts are some of the cheapest to install, while rigid boards are much denser, and spray foam can be added to your home without needing to re-roof. Our choice, however, when it comes to metal roofing, is a 55mm anticon blanket, which is excellent at heat deflection and cannot be moved or disturbed. We feel this method is the best value for money, but we recognise that every customer has different needs.
